Re:cycle those boring neglected tweets. →

Interesting these days 2 see the different API’s that incorporate twitter & creatively how they are being utilized. For all the folks that think twitter is full of mundane info here’s your chance 2 turn tweets into charity gold. Recycle those banal tweets & let makes twitter more relevant.  work via McKinney.

Estee Lauder Yourself →

fishingforbats:

Estee Lauder cosmetics is offering free photoshoots for the ladies for pics they can use on their Facebook pages.  Awesome idea.  This is essentially the same idea as all those other apps that let you upload a picture and alter it in some way, e.g. Elf Yourself, Yearbook Yourself, and (ahem) Rockstarizer.  But it is vitally different in some key ways.  Firstly, it doesn’t exist purely for frivolity- it is extremely relevant to its core audience and packs quite an incentive.  And secondly, it’s main purpose isn’t just general branding (though that will happen too), but getting consumers to try the product and get in direct contact with reps, leading to sales.  Nicely done.

Now if only Shake Shack could do a Feed Yourself promotion so I could see what I’d look like with a nice, free Double Shack Stack in my belly…

-> pretty smart. Gets the women in the store & to the point of purchase. Not 2 mention making the women feel lovely. As they already should… because lets be honest. Women are lovely!

Arlo: new portfolio option. →

via @swissmiss - stylish themes & integration w/ social media sites like fb & twitter make this a powerful option when it comes to putting together your portfolio. My one big question is the video player. Obviously having the knowledge & expertise to create your own site is the IDEAL situation. Having said that, it’s not in the cards 4 all of us. Arlo seems like a step up from carbonmade & indexhibit to me. Check it out, free 2 wk trial period.  What do you have 2 lose?

Twitter feels like conversation, ephemeral, written on water, designed to fade away. Blogging feels like notes, writing as thinking and rehearsing, to be kept and remembered, written on paper. And actually writing on paper, that’s still the best.

Future Free-Agency? →

Norm Grey, founder & president of the Creative Circus, talks about how the agency of the future may more look like the big hollywood studio of the 30’s, 40’s & 50’s. Moving from a contract / staff environment to more of a gig / freelance system would lower overhead & make agencies more nimble to clients needs. Factor in the constant shift in consumer habits & you have a model that can keep up w/ it’s audience. If clients continue to look 4 alternatives & partners outside of the AOR model we could continue to see a resource shift.

Personally I believe this business freedom will continue to inspire & spark an era of creative freedom that will benefit both talent & brands. The reality is that we’re in this together & need each other to be successful.  As my mama would say, bring it!
